Hej!! I'm right now on the way from Stockholm down south to Göteborg. Again, thanks to good Swedish wifi connection it is possible for me to keep you entertained!!
The last two days were so wonderful that I cannot even put in words how happy I was to spend time with one of my truly best friends again. Lots of fun, but at the same time many deep conversations. I feel so blessed to call people like Maddie my closest friends - she simply gets me and I know that I can always count on her, no matter what!!
That is also the reason why we have been at IKEA yesterday. Some of you know my crazy IKEA addiction (next year we celebrate our 10-year IKEA&Christina-in-love-anniversary!!! LOL) and it is kind of a dream coming true, getting the new IKEA catalog in its original Swedish version. So we went there yesterday morning, grabbed the catalog, hid in closets to scare people (childish? - no, not at ALL!!!!!), nearly fell asleep in one of the beds, and ate Köttbullar for lunch.
Look how happy I am:

This is not a usual post - 'caus I'm writing it on my phone (sorry already for chaos formating and typing errors) from Frankfurt airport actually!! Thank god there is wifi all over this place!
I thought I might give you a quick update on what's going on with me right now. Well, as already mentioned, I'm currently in Frankfurt and am waiting for my connection flight to Sweden. This is especially crazy since I didn't really plan this trip, but rather just impulse-purchased this flight a little bit longer than two weeks ago. I'll visit my dear friend Maddie who I met while living in Chicago.  I haven't seen her since I left the States. Maddie and me used to hang out quite a bit, because we lived pretty close to each other. Over the course of only five months we became such good friends!!
What is more is that my dear friend Oskar is hosting a traditional Swedish cray fish party on Saturday. And since I'll be in the country anyway, I couldn't turn down his invitation!!
You probably can imagine how excited and overly happy I'm right now!!!!!
But back to what I actually wanted to share with you: my love for airports!
In contrast to most people I know, I quite enjoy spending time at airports. I simply love the atmosphere - busy business people (btw: did you know that the word business comes from "busy"?), tourists with crazy hats, so many different nationalities, excitment and other very strong emotions, reunions and good-byes, etc. Airports are such great places for observing people (there is a guy who is walking up and down between 3 gates for some time already, everytime passing me I smile at him)!!
Especially really big airports always fascinate me! I do wonder how things can work smoothly even though there are thousands of processes that need to be coordinated. For my studies at university I'm right now studying logistics and transportation management and I think it is so very interesting!! One day I hope that I can work at such a big airport like Frankfurt. I probably would get an adrenaline rush every morning just because I seem to never get tired of airports and airtravel - no matter how often I find myself spending time there.

MQ Vienna

IMG_2091e This weekend my mum came to visit me in Vienna. I suggested to start the mother-daughter-day off with some great breakfast – naturally!! When I talked to her on the phone yesterday she didn’t have any preferences so it was on me to make a decision and a reservation as well.IMG_2070e After thinking about what my mum would enjoy I called the friendly staff at Café Restaurant Halle at the Viennese MQ. It was easy to get a table, and was also informed that we would be seated outside if the weather was fine enough.IMG_2093e So I picked my dearest mummy up at the train station and only 10 minutes later we arrived at the MQ – the Museums Quartier. I really like hanging out there. There are several nice cafés and restaurants - something for every taste; all year around there are different events – mulled wine huts, MQ Vienna Fashion Week, Shows, etc.: the clientele is very relaxed and ranges from young, hip parents and groups of students to tourists and elderly but classy people; and of course museums!IMG_2073 But back to breakfast. We were seated immediately and the waiter was very obliging handing us the menus. Not too long ago I started a new habit – instead of looking at the menu first, I look at other guest’s tables and dishes. I think that whatever most people eat or whoever looks the happiest with their choice, well, that must be good. Today three people around me had the Breakfast Bagel -  so I ordered one as well! My mum went for a slightly healthier option – Easy Breakfast.IMG_2075 IMG_2078IMG_2080  Indulging ourselves for approximately two hours we finished off with fresh orange juice and a green smoothie. “First time green smoothie, YAY”, I thought, but I don’t know… Green smoothies are probably not so my thing. It was not bad, no not at all, but I simply didn’t like the floury consistency. I’m more the bacon-lover!!!!IMG_2081IMG_2090

Monochrome Vienna

No secret – I LOVE Vienna!!! I adore its architecture and pretty much every week I discover a new café or a new area I’ve never been before.

101 in 1001

life2 While surfing the web I stumbled upon a great idea some time ago. It is called 101 in 1001 and means that you write down a realistic list of 101 things that you can and want to accomplish within the period of 1001 days. Since I love lists and have several bucket lists I decided to give it a try. Writing this list was not easy at all! I never thought that it might be hard to think of 101 things to do, but since the list should be realistic it is a little harder – my budget as a student won’t be enough for lots of big and expensive trips, nor will I be able to afford expensive handbags. And I just didn’t want to list random stuff, but rather write down a meaningful list. It took me nearly a week, can you imagine?! Would anyone of you consider joining me? London Calling

IMG_2480 I’ve been talking and dreaming about going back to London for a long time. Last week I finally booked my flights and I cannot wait to visit this place in less than four weeks!!

So many things that I wish to do in the British capital and even though we are there for pretty much five day I know that it might not be enough. Just because my London-To-Do-List seems to be a mile-long.

bacon First and foremost I need to grab a burger at Bleecker St Burger which I am craving ever since I saw their beefy babies on Rosie’s Blog. If you’ve been around for some time, you know how much I love food and how much I miss really good but slutty fast food in Central Europe. We do have good food, no question, but burgers in London is a MUST!harrypotter WB Harry Potter Studios are on the high end of my list as well. I’m a huge fan of Harry Potter – have read all the books several times and have seen all the movies as well. Just lately I started reading the entire series again. Still impressed by the great work of J.K. Rowling. Ever since I heard about the Warner Bros. Studio Tour I’ve wanted to go!!harrods Also shopping in London – this city offers pretty much any store you can thing of. But not only do they have a much wider variety but also they got Harrods. The first time I’ve been in London I couldn’t make it there, but this year I want to experience this British department store from inside! londoneye I desperately want to go on a ride with the London Eye! Simply because I love Ferris Wheels and heights. Also I need to jump on a classic red double-decker bus, visit sights like Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral. tatemodern2 Not long ago I’ve read that most of London’s major museums are for free. That is fabulous since you never know what the weather is going to be like and there are some great museums around the city. I’ve wanted to visit the Tate Modern ever since I started to be interested in art. Maybe I do have time for that, and and also visit some other museums.

Best Pancakes in Town

IMG_2070 Ever since I’m back from my year abroad in the States I love to eat American Food. And no, not the ready made dishes with all the bad ingredients like high fructose corn syrup. No, I love L O V E the homemade American things like pancakes, cookies, steak, cheesecake and so on. You kind of get the idea!!

As you already know, I am breakfast obsessed!! So it comes that I’ve tried pancakes at different places in Vienna in the hope of finding real American ones. I never gave up and kept on and I was lucky – VERY lucky!!

One day I found American Heaven on a plate. My friend Sarah who has also been to the US for a year was with me at Café Ulrich in the 7th district when we discovered the best pancakes in Vienna!

Look at those babies!!! Aren’t they beautiful?? Mouthwatering, indeed, and so lovely decorated with fruits. And for my friend and me, an extra side of bacon. It was so good!IMG_2064

Other guests where asking us if the bacon is always served with the pancakes. I was laughing and then explained them that we’ve been Americanized.

Apart from Pancakes there are lots of other delicious thing on Ulrich’s menu. I totally love that place – super friendly staff, very good and high-quality food, you get good value for what you pay, and I love their design concept. I’m sure that I will tell you more about Ulrich’s one day, but for today I just wanted to show you Vienna’s best American Pancakes!!IMG_2061

Beach Volleyball Grand Slam

Hello you all – big SORRY that you didn’t hear from me in a long time; been occupied with my internship – but of course I cannot sit still for a second, so let me show you what happened last weekend in the South of Austria!

IMG_2372A while ago, when there was still snow outside, I said to my friends during lunch break “This year, I wanna go to the Beach Volleyball Grand Slam. Anyone in?” And yes, of course they were in!

On Friday last week right after work, we headed home, grabbed all of our bags and made it to the train station just in time. Four hours (& some cider) later we arrived in Klagenfurt where a friend of us picked us up!

IMG_2344IMG_2401 Friday night we headed out to the Ö3 Beach Party and danced and celebrated into the early morning hours!!

IMG_2467 IMG_2347IMG_2358 The following day we slept in and enjoyed a slow morning. But later that sunny Saturday we headed over to the center court and there the party continued! The atmosphere in the center court was amazing!! We watched the Woman’s Finale and the crowd did a good job motivating the players.

IMG_2382IMG_2367 IMG_2450 IMG_2453 In the evening again, we headed out to the next party!! It was exhausting but at the same time so much fun! So we got ready (all 5 girls – that takes some time, ya know?) and then we danced the night away!!

IMG_2404 IMG_2439Sunday was just chillin’!! The weather turned out to be perfect for tanning, swimming and  relaxing on the beach!!

IMG_2428IMG_2417IMG_2388What a great weekend!!!
