Moving & Happy New Year

So I was very unsatisfied with blogging ever since I got my MacBook. Simply because my pictures were of really bad quality and the blog layout itself was not really me. After thinking about my options for a long time I came to the conclusion that there is no one-best-way. Both blogging platforms - Blogger and Wordpress - do have advantages as well as disadvantages. In the end Wordpress won, because it gives me the chance to upload my photographs in good quality and because I like the layout more (even though I might think about changing the color from pink into something else), but for now I am really happy!

I hope that I will see you all over there, on the new "Two Cups of Wanderlust" :)

Happy New Year!!!! May 2015 have many wonderful things in store for all of us!!

Busy Pre-Christmas Times

December was just crazy so far - and yes, I still have one exam coming up on the 22nd!! Isn't that great? (insert sarcasm here).

Anyway, even if I spent more time studying and writing papers I also did some christmassy things to get in the spirit. Here is what I did in the past couple of weeks when I haven't been at university or studying in the library:

{Vienna looks just so pretty around this time of the year}

{sent an advent calendar to my girls in Northbrook}

{studying at Starbucks with some Gingerbread Latte}

{some DIY Christmas cards}

{the city hall looking very festive}

{bailey's cupcakes}

{some more Christmas lights around the city}

{a good cup of tea with my favorite newspapers}

{being around the city center with my camera one evening}

{Home Alone - best Christmas movie and always reminds me of my time in Chicago}

{I absolutely adore this shirt, but discovered it only some days ago here - now I guess it is so late to order it...}

Are you already in full Christmas spirit? Are you already done with all the preparations?

I wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Best Season of the Year

Today the best season of the year officially started - 1st of December. That means Christmas is coming up soon. I love December - the exciting anticipation, the festive feeling, Christmas songs on the radio, evenings of tea or mulled wine, gingerbread, and if we are lucky even snow.

I put together a little Christmas list and try to keep up with it and share some of the points listed with you.

What are your Pre-Christmas traditions? Is there anything you always do before Christmas Eve?

1.     Watch „The Holiday“
2.     Create a nice Christmas Playlist
3.     Buy a funny headband (I was thinking of reindeer antlers)
4.     Write Christmas Cards
5.     Drink mulled wine
6.     Buy some new tree decorations
7.     Watch “Love, Actually”
8.     Clean up the house/ apartment
9.     Buy a nice scented candle
10.  Send Christmas presents to my friends all around the world in time
11.  Read a Christmassy book
12.  Buy Christmas PJs
13.  Have a relaxed weekend breakfast/ brunch and stroll around the inner city
14.  Listen to Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker
15.  Go to the Christkindl-Markets around Vienna
16.  Buy a festive jumper
17.  Bake Christmas cookies
18.  Have some very good hot chocolate

8,501.08 km

On Friday last week I got an email with really exciting news. It said that I'm nominated for an exchange semester in Victoria, Canada. After one month of interviews and countless hours of panicking and hoping the good news finally reached me!!
So in about 7 months I'll be moving again, 8,501.08 km across the Atlantic Ocean to a small city in British Columbia called Victoria. I cannot wait until this adventure starts. What courses do I want to take? Do I need a new passport? Where do I have to apply for student housing? There are a thousand questions in my head, but what is more, I am genuinely happy! I cannot put in words how much I'm looking forward to this time.

Cozy Winter Season

Days are getting shorter. Nights are getting longer. Time for snuggling up in your favorite pyjamas and grab a good book or magazine and roll up on the sofa. Or catching up with all a tv-show over a cup of tea. Or simply enjoying lazy weekends with your loved one.
And where better to do that?

Coconut Curry

I might not have a lot of free time at the moment, but there is still time for some cooking! So I tried my first curry one evening.

Ingredients:
200g of boneless skinless chicken breast
200ml coconut milk
coconut oil
1 red bell pepper
1 red onion
1 clove of garlic
1 handful of sugar-snap peas
3-4 tsps of red curry paste
2 tsps of curry power
salt

1.
First cut the chicken breast in pieces and put them with the minced garlic, the red curry paste, the curry power and some coconut milk to create a paste that covers the chicken - set the mixture aside
2.
Cut the vegetables. In a non-stick pan on high heat melt the coconut oil and then fry the chicken. Then add the vegetables and fry quickly.
3.
Poor in the coconut milk and let it thicken up.
4.
Season if needed with salt.
5.
Serve with a portion of jasmine rice.

MacLove

So I finally made a decision and purchased my MacBook a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE IT!!! Sure, I had to get used to many things and there are still some things that I have to figure out, but I do have some really helpful friends and, of course, Google.
Also, last week, while studying at the library, I ordered a skyline-sticker for the MacBook front. This was something I was really looking forward to. My best friend Madi once saw a girl at Northwestern University having that sticker on her MacBook and we loved it. A couple of days later, she purchased it! My bestie, Swedish Maddie, did the same thing. So the only one missing out was me - neither had the sticker nor a MacBook... But the waiting is over and now I can finally say that I'm part of the Chicago-Sticker-Gang, too.

Look at this beauty:
